Benches can range from a rustic bench, such as might once have been used in an inn or at the front of a frontier home. They can be padded. They can be attached to a wall or bolted to the floor. They can be free-standing or they can have a box beneath the seat to use as storage. They make a handy corner for a breakfast nook, or the free-standing version can be pulled up to the outer edge of the breakfast table. A bench can even be placed in an entryway so that there is a place to sit.
